Dental Sealants Help Protect Teeth For Both Children And Adults

YOU BRUSH AND FLOSS REGULARLY, but harmful materials can still hide in the microscopic cracks in your teeth—places where your toothbrush and floss can’t easily reach.

Have You Heard Of Dental Sealants?

Dental sealants are an effective preventative measure against cavities and tooth decay that we offer here at our practice. They coat the small indentations in your teeth, forming a protective layer against plaque and decay. Sealants have been shown to reduce cavities by up to 80%, and can last up to 10 years.

Sealants Are Great For Kids And Adults

Sealants provide protection for your teeth by keeping plaque from forming in the tiny crevices. Our team often recommends sealants for children because kids’ teeth have small depressions in them that make them harder to properly clean through brushing alone. This can be especially helpful if your child has a weakness for sweets and/or a hard time sticking to good dental cleaning habits.

Dr. Gottlieb Adds…

“Using the state of the art electronic decay finding tool called the Diagnodent along with an understanding when to or not to seal teeth is most important. This technique and people who developed it were my instructors when I was a resident at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY.”

We Can Easily Apply Sealants During Your Next Visit

The process of applying sealants is short, easy, and does not require drilling or the removal of any tooth structure. After your teeth are cleaned, a special gel is placed on the chewing surfaces for a few seconds. Each tooth is then washed and dried—then, the sealant is painted on the tooth. Typically, we also shine a special light on the tooth to help harden the sealant.
